Windows & Door Tax Credit
Our Energy Star qualified replacement windows & doors are included in the federal energy tax credit classification. The window and door tax credit applies to replacement windows and doors, skylights and windows and/or doors installed in a wall that did not previously have one. The tax credit is available for existing homes only and does not include new construction homes. The window and door tax credit is also only available for a homeowner's primary residence and does not include rental properties.

This tax credit has been established through the Energy Star program which is a joint venture of the E.P.A and the U.S. Department of Energy. It is designed to help homeowners identify and purchase energy savings products for their home. These efficient products lower the amount of energy consumption and reduce the amount of CO2 emissions. The credit is applied towards your federal income tax using the IRS Form 5695.

"Take advantage of the 2012-2013 ENERGY STAR tax credits. Get your home improvements completed by the end of this year!"
Roofing Tax Credit
Energy Star roofing shingles with the appropriate cooling granules qualify for the roofing tax credit. A qualified roofing product reflects more of the sun's rays, which can lower roof surface temperatures up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This heat reduction decreases the amount of heat energy that is then transferred into your home. The result is lower cooling costs in the summer, reduced risk of attic condensation and improved air flow. Lowering the temperature of your attic helps to mitigate the amount of condensation (moisture build-up) within the attic or rafter space of your roof. This reduces the chance of mold and mildew formation and accumulation. It also helps extend the life of the roof framing structure. The increase air flow works in conjuction with properly installed roof and attic ventilation. Many homes do not have proper roofing ventilation. The size, type and location of roofing ventilation (and siding ventilation) is critical to your home's energy performance and to defend against larger more expensive moisture damage. It is always a good idea to consult a professional certified roofing and siding contractor to ensure the appropriate ventilation is designed and implemented for your roofing and/or siding replacement project.

Other Energy Tax Credits
Other energy tax credits that may qualify are the purchase and installation of insulation, biomass stoves, HVAC, water heaters, geo thermal heat pumps, small wind turbines and solar energy systems.
"We highly recommend taking advantage of these energy tax credits before they expire. They've already been reduced by 75% in the last two years. The home improvements that make the largest impact on controlling heat loss/gain are windows, doors, roofing and insulation. Any one of these home improvements will also increase the performance and extend the life of the homeowner's existing HVAC system!"
